“One Wish For My Street” is also carried out with the residents of the Bajram Curri neighbourhood in Prizren

As part of the “One Wish For My Street” initiative (“One Wish for My Street”), EC Ma Ndryshe continued its participatory activities with the residents of the Bajram Curri neighbourhood in Prizren, engaging in discussions with citizens from “Masar Shala”, “Nexhat Fanaj”, “Tahir Sinani”, “Ylber Fanaj” streets and the surrounding areas. The purpose of this activity was to collect residents’ requests, concerns, and needs related to public spaces and the quality of life in their neighbourhood.

During the activity, a map of the neighbourhood was placed in the public space, which served as an interactive tool for identifying the problems, proposals, and requests of the community. The activity was carried out through direct meetings with citizens of different age groups, who shared their experiences and concerns regarding infrastructure and public services.

Among the issues raised by residents were also several problems with public lighting, as in some areas, although electric poles exist, lighting lamps are missing. Residents also requested an increase in public bus transport lines, as well as improved parking opportunities. In particular, they requested the creation of more parking spaces for residents and visitor parking spaces, as their absence is causing vehicles to be parked in front of the entrances to houses.

During the discussions, concerns related to pedestrian and cycling infrastructure were also raised. Residents identified the occupation of sidewalks, the lack of pedestrian crossings, the lack of public benches, and the lack of bicycle paths. They also requested the asphalting of several roads that are in poor condition, as well as the improvement of unpaved roads in some parts of the neighbourhood.

At the same time, residents addressed problems related to infrastructure and technical services. In some parts of the neighbourhood, low water pressure was reported, while the removal and proper arrangement of improperly installed electrical cables was also requested. Residents also raised the need for more green spaces and tree planting, emphasizing the lack of greenery in some parts of the neighbourhood.

Among the other problems addressed by residents was the presence of stray dogs, for which institutional engagement was requested to address this issue. Residents also requested interventions to improve the conditions of public spaces and create a safer, more accessible, and more functional environment for all residents.

All comments, proposals, and requests collected during this activity will be forwarded to the relevant institutions, with the aim of having them reviewed and concrete measures undertaken to improve public spaces and the quality of life for the residents of the Bajram Curri neighbourhood.

This activity was carried out within the framework of the ‘Public Spaces 4 All’ project, implemented by EC Ma Ndryshe, with the support of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), through GIZ Kosovo.
