The “One Wish For My Street” initiative continues with residents of the “Lakuriq” neighborhood in Prizren

As part of the “One Wish For My Street” initiative, EC Ma Ndryshe has continued its participatory activity with residents of the “Lakuriq” neighborhood in Prizren, specifically on “Besnik Belloda” Street and surrounding areas. The aim of this activity was to gather citizens’ requests, concerns, and needs related to public spaces and living conditions in their neighborhoods.
During the activity, a neighborhood map was placed in public spaces, serving as an interactive tool for collecting comments, suggestions, and issues from residents. The activity was carried out through direct meetings with citizens of different age groups.
Residents shared the concerns and needs they encounter in their daily lives in the neighborhood. Among the most prominent issues were the lack of public lighting on many streets, the absence of sidewalks and safe spaces for pedestrians, and the shortage of parking for residents. A widespread problem across almost all streets in the neighborhood was the lack of waste bins, which was identified as one of the most frequent requests.
Additionally, in some areas concerns were raised about the poor condition of infrastructure, including sewage systems, difficult access for vehicles, and the lack of road signage and adequate sidewalks. Damaged fences posing a risk to children were also identified, while in other areas deteriorated building facades and roofs were reported.
On busier streets, residents proposed the installation of speed bumps to improve road safety, the creation of pedestrian crossings, and the addition of bicycle lanes. They also requested more greenery, tree planting, installation of benches, and the creation of playgrounds for children in public spaces.
All comments and requests collected during this activity will be forwarded to the relevant institutions, with the aim of addressing them and improving living conditions for residents of the “Lakuriq” neighborhood.
This activity was carried out within the framework of the “Public Spaces 4 All” project, implemented by EC Ma Ndryshe with the support of the German Government and the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), through GIZ Kosovo.
