"One Wish For My Street” Initiative Continues with Residents of Arbanë Neighborhood in Prizren

As part of the “One Wish For My Street” initiative, EC Ma Ndryshe has continued its participatory activities with residents of Arbanë Neighborhood in Prizren, talking to citizens from “Ismet Gashi”, “Afrim Bytyqi”, “Ismail Qemali” streets and surrounding areas. The purpose of this activity was to collect residents’ requests, concerns and needs regarding public spaces and the quality of life in their neighborhood.

During the activity, a neighborhood map was placed in public spaces, which served as an interactive tool for identifying community problems, proposals and requests. The activity was conducted through direct meetings with citizens of different age groups, who shared their experiences and concerns regarding infrastructure and public services.

Among the most prominent issues raised by residents were the lack of public lighting on some streets and alleys in the neighborhood, the lack of trash cans, bicycle paths and playgrounds for children. Residents also called for the creation of more recreational spaces, the increase in green areas, the planting of trees and the installation of public benches.

During the discussions, concerns related to traffic safety and public infrastructure were also raised. Residents requested the installation of appropriate road signage near the “Ibrahim Fehmiu” Primary School, the establishment of measures to limit the speed of vehicles in the neighborhood’s alleys, as well as the regulation and arrangement of electrical cables in some parts of the neighborhood.

At the same time, the difficulties caused by the occupation of sidewalks by vehicles were highlighted, hindering the movement of women with baby strollers and people with disabilities. Residents also raised concerns regarding the presence of stray dogs and requested institutional commitment to address this problem.

All comments, proposals and requests collected during this activity will be forwarded to the relevant institutions, in order for them to be reviewed and concrete measures to be taken to improve public spaces and the quality of life for the residents of the Arbanë neighborhood.

This activity was carried out within the framework of the ‘Public Spaces 4 All’ project, implemented by EC Ma Ndryshe, with support from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), through GIZ Kosova.
