The demolition of old houses in the city of Prizren has taken worrying proportions. Another house located within the protected radius of St. Friday Church began to be demolished during this weekend

The very fact that the house which is being demolished is located within the protected radius of St. Friday Church and within the historical zone, means that it needed a special treatment by the institutions.

Article 6 of the Law on Cultural Heritage, in paragraph 4 defines "Architectural monuments under temporary or permanent protection have a Protective Zone which is 50 meters from the perimeter of the monument".

For more, St. Friday Church is the only monument in the city which entered the list of World Heritage in Danger of UNESCO in 2006.

Therefore, EC Ma Ndryshe considers that the relevant institutions had to treat this case more seriously, and make greater efforts for the preservation of the built heritage of Prizren.
