Students of High School “Kadri Kusari” in Gjakova launch an initiative to make school spaces greener

In framework of the activity “Youth-Led Local Actions – Community Activism for Environmental Protection - Community Activation for Environmental Protection,” students of Highschool “Kadri Kusari” in Gjakova have carried out an initiative to improve their school spaces, directly contributing to the creation of a more pleasant and sustainable environment.
As part of this activity, on March 30, 2026, flower pots were placed along the corridors and in various classrooms, bringing more greenery into the school’s everyday spaces. This intervention aims to transform the school environment into a greener, more welcoming, and visually appealing space for the school community.
Through this initiative, the goal is to create a calm and inspiring atmosphere, where students feel more connected to their environment and more motivated to contribute to maintaining a clean and beautiful space.
Integrating green elements into school areas also serves as an educational tool to raise awareness about the importance of nature and sustainability.
An important component of the project is the active involvement of students in the care and maintenance of the plants. Through this practical engagement, they develop a sense of ownership, responsibility, and teamwork, while also gaining concrete skills and strengthening their awareness of environmental protection.
This initiative demonstrates the important role of young people in driving positive change in the community, turning the school into a more vibrant, healthier, and more sustainable space for everyone.
This activity is carried out within the framework of the project “Green Horizons – Youth and Community Green Transition Initiative in Western Kosovo,” implemented by EC Ma Ndryshe in partnership with Care International Balkans, with the support of the European Union, and with Syri i Vizionit as a co-implementing partner.
