"MOS U NXEH PRIZREN!” a new tool for entertainment and education on cultural heritage
In the courtyard of the Museum Complex of the Albanian League of Prizren, today, in the presence of the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Mr. Hajrulla Çeku and other guests, including the students and teachers of the "Emin Duraku" school, the game "Mos u nxeh Prizren!" has been inaugurated.
The game prepared by EC Ma Ndryshe is presented in the form of the public space and that of the board game form. During the ceremony, the director of QRTK Prizren, Mr. Samir Hoxha and the director of EC Ma Ndryshe, Mr. Valon Xhabali, pledged for further cooperation in joint activities for education on cultural heritage.
This creative game designed for different cities of Albania, such as: Gjirokastra, Tirana, Shkodra, Korça, etc. is already in Kosovo, and for the first time it was presented in Prizren. The game, besides aiming to 'rest' children from excessive exposure to electronic devices, also aims to bring back a nostalgia of many Kosovar families, now in a different format. Through play and entertainment, children will be able to (re)discover different elements of their city's heritage while adults, evoke the memories that the game offers and can openly discuss the topics of protecting our common cultural heritage.
This game, in the following weeks, will be presented to various schools of the Municipality of Prizren and will aim to be one of the non-formal means of education for the younger generations of Prizren. Moreover, it will be offered to other communities living in Prizren.
The game "Mos u nxeh" was created for the first time in 2017 by Cultural Heritage Without Borders in Albania (CHwB Albania) as part of the collection "E ka kush e ka" which aims to involve children and adults in a series of books and games through which the cultural heritage of the country where they live in is discovered and rediscovered. The game’s design is a reference to one of the favorite games of children in the 80s-90s adapted and placed in function of education and heritage. The first edition was designed for the stone city of Gjirokastra, then continuing with Berat, Korça, Shkodra, Elbasan, Tirana, Durrës, Puka and recently with the edition for Prizren, the cultural and historical capital of Kosovo. In 2018, this game was selected as the winner of the European Heritage stories award during the European Heritage Days, managed by the Council of Europe.
The edition of the game "Mos u nxeh Prizren" was designed by EC Ma Ndryshe in partnership with GuideKS (Association of Tourist Guides of Kosovo) and valuable contribution from the professional staff of the Regional Center for Cultural Heritage – Prizren, while it was financed by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
