Mayor of Prizren is Urged to Respect the Pledge That No Indicted Individuals Will Be Part of the Government

EC Ma Ndryshe, emphasizing the need for public institutions to function with integrity and to be governed ethically, calls for the immediate dismissal or resignation of the municipal director who has been formally indicted by the Basic Prosecution in Prizren for the criminal offense of abuse of official position or authority.

EC reminds the public that the electoral promises made by the Mayor of Prizren and his political party were clear—stressing that no individual with an indictment would be part of the governing cabinet.

Any deviation from this position now would represent a direct breach of public trust, undermine institutional transparency, and render meaningless the fight against corruption at the local level.

For this reason, EC calls on the Mayor to act in accordance with his public commitments and dismiss the official in question, demonstrating that ethics and integrity are values to be practiced, not just campaign slogans. This action would allow judicial proceedings to unfold fairly and transparently, without political or institutional interference.

Prizren deserves a municipal administration that sets an example of accountability—one that, in line with its Integrity Plan, systematically and comprehensively implements standards, principles, and objectives for preventing corruption and other unlawful or unprofessional conduct.
